I would not worry about this. I am sure they are prepared for anything that may occur. Colostomy bags are well made and will hold a lot. If you want to be sure of his confront and any needs he has speak to his wife alone. Let her know that you want to make sure he is comfortable and has anything he needs. A separate bathroom would seem to me to make him feel "different".
I have a friend who's oldest son had to have a colostomy done at a young age. He went through 4 years of high school and graduated without anyone ever knowing he had a colostomy bag, even the school nurse! They wanted him to be treated the same as everyone else.

Perhaps have a quiet word with his wife beforehand?

Do not make an unnecessary fuss, it may be something he would prefer people to just ignore.

I know when my aunt went through this, she coped with family functions either in our homes or going out to restaurants with no special bathroom requirements.

Depending on how long post op he is. He may not need any bathroom facilities while enjoying the festivities. People have had them for years and are able to swim, and do most any physical activities without problems.

However, the reassurance that you will make whatever accommodations to make sure he is comfortable will be good.

What you will be offering him (use of a private bath) is all he needs. He will do the rest.
