We have a friend who is post surgery for colon cancer and is currently using a colostomy bag. We’d like to invite him and his wife, along with some other friends over for New Year’s Eve.
I had thought to offer him the use of a private, full bath for any personal care needs he may have while at our house. I don’t know anything about caring for colostomy issues, but want him to have a positive experience, while meeting his needs.
Does anyone have any suggestions, what to offer, or what NOT to do? I don’t want to do anything to hurt his feelings. Again, I’m completely without experience in this arena, but want to do all I can to help him have a good time.
He will be 7-8 weeks post surgery by New Year’s.
