My grandfather had colostomy surgery with the entire lower intestine removed and will be wearing a pouch permanently.
He was in great health prior to surgery and his recovery has been great! He’s being realeased from the hospital tomorrow after only 3 weeks.
He’s working on physical therapy and is fully (if slowly) mobile with a cane around the house.
I am staying with my grandparents for 2 more weeks, but must return to my home far away. I’ve received a lot of training from the hospital staff, but my grandmother is worried about pouch changing, etc.
Do you have any helpful tips or advice to share?
